Our Mission
The Conscious Mission
Consciously Rebuilding provides a community development service to addresses the health, social, and environmental dynamics of post-Katrina New Orleans through education and experiential learning. We promote conscious incremental lifestyle changes that mature into holistic individual, community, and environmental health. We educate marginalized populations that have been traditionally untapped by the “Green” Movement by translating the principles of “green” into priorities of financial capacity and health.
Goals.Objectives.
- Increased water and energy efficiency through workshop education. Analyze health fair and workshop commitments, and online action plans to project energy and water savings to provide measures of success.
- Increased awareness on indoor air quality (IAQ), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), disaster management, and environmental health. Analyze health fair and workshop commitments, and online action plans to project impact on IAQ, PTSD, disaster management, and environmental health.
- Human capital will contribute to a sustainable community. Consciously Rebuilding participants, attendees, supporters, and volunteers will extend their healthy lifestyles into their family and community to achieve sustainability.
- Community relations will be productively maintained. Host and participate in quarterly Health Fairs that translate theory into action for all citizens, through the notion of “connectedness”, relating the “Green” Movement to social, environmental, and economic systems. Participants will be encouraged to share success stories during future events.
- New partnerships will be formed and maintained with local universities, neighborhood associations, community organizations, and churches. Offer expertise to other entities achieving similar sustainable development goals. Invite key stakeholders to participate in fairs and action plans.
